Story in 60 Seconds
The short version
Twenty-eight years after the Rage outbreak, Spike lives with parents Jamie and Isla in a fortified community on Lindisfarne. Jamie takes him to the mainland for a coming-of-age hunt, but Spike returns angry at his father's boasting, infidelity, and refusal to seek help for Isla's illness. Spike escapes with Isla to find Dr Ian Kelson. They meet a stranded soldier and an infected woman whose uninfected baby Isla helps deliver. After an Alpha kills the soldier, Kelson rescues Spike, Isla, and the baby and brings them to his Bone Temple memorial.
