Story in 60 Seconds
The short version
Jimmy Crystal forces Spike to join the Fingers after a death match and renames him Jimmy. At the Bone Temple, Kelson notices that repeated sedation is restoring parts of the Alpha Samson's personality. Jimmy's gang murders survivors while Kellie, called Jimmy Ink, increasingly protects Spike and doubts their leader. After a farm raid goes wrong, Kellie mistakes the iodine-covered Kelson for Satan and takes the gang to him. Jimmy forces Kelson to validate his claimed divine authority, while Kelson fears losing his chance to understand Samson's recovery.

Kelson stages a hallucinatory Satan performance, then orders the intoxicated Fingers to crucify Jimmy. Jimmy fatally stabs Kelson; Kellie kills the remaining attackers and Spike stabs Jimmy. Samson arrives, speaks Kelson's name, thanks him, and carries his body away. Spike and Kellie escape together. Later, Jim, survivor of the original outbreak, and his daughter see them fleeing infected and move to help. Kelson dies, but Samson's recovered speech and the new alliance leave evidence that infection and brutality are not fixed identities.
