Story in 60 Seconds
The short version
Coco follows Miguel, a boy in a family that has banned music because of an old betrayal. During Dia de los Muertos, Miguel steals a guitar he believes belonged to the famous Ernesto de la Cruz and is transported to the Land of the Dead. He seeks a blessing that will let him return home and play music, while the charming skeleton Hector asks for help reaching the living world before he is forgotten. Miguel learns Ernesto stole Hector's songs and caused his death. The real family story is restored when Miguel sings to Mama Coco, helping her remember her father.
