Why read this guide

For this film, the journey joins Kara's Kryptonian grief, Ruthye's revenge, and the race to save Krypto. This guide keeps those motives from collapsing into one quest.

PlotGeeks note

Kara understands Ruthye because both are survivors, but the story tests whether shared loss must produce the same answer. That tension connects the central relationship to the final decision.

Story in 60 Seconds

The short version

Kara survives Krypton's destruction and Argo City's later poisoning before reaching Earth, where her cousin Kal-El is already Superman. As an adult she spends much of her time off-world. On her birthday she meets Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose family was murdered by brigand leader Krem of the Yellow Hills. Kara initially refuses Ruthye's request for vengeance. When Krem steals Kara's ship and poisons Krypto, Kara pursues him for the antidote and reluctantly takes Ruthye along. Their journey through hostile worlds forces Kara to confront both her own displacement and Ruthye's determination to kill Krem.

Spoiler sectionEnding ExplainedShow ending detailsHide ending details

Kara and Ruthye recover the antidote and save Krypto while bringing Krem's campaign to an end. Kara prevents grief from deciding every action, and Ruthye must choose what justice will mean after reaching the man she has pursued. Returning from the journey, Kara has not erased Krypton's loss or become settled on Earth, but she has accepted responsibility for Ruthye and for the kind of power she wants to use.

Original context

Why it matters

Why the ending matters

The resolution advances Kara from avoidance toward responsibility without pretending that one victory resolves her displacement. The result gives the final scene its meaning beyond the immediate outcome.

Key turning points

The decisive turn

Krypto's poisoning makes Ruthye's desire for revenge emotionally legible to Kara instead of merely reckless. The change removes an easier option and makes the next decision unavoidable.
